Breaking the Cycle of Poverty

The Mary Elizabeth House, Inc., A Ministry, is a local, non-profit organization based in Washington, DC that provides supportive services to young women both in and out of the foster care system. The Mary Elizabeth House has three programs on its campus: a child development center (AsA Early Learning Center; and a transitional program for young women between the ages of 21-25; and a program for young women yet in the foster care system who are between the ages of 16-21. A year ago, The Mary Elizabeth House hosted its inaugural Annual Mother's Day Fundraising event build a network of people committed to its work. The funds raised from this this event, and any subsequent giving, will help continue the wrap around programming and activities needed to promote economic self-sufficiency among young mothers, as well as to support re-connections with family and significant others in a two generational approach that will help these young women break the cycle of poverty.
